Birmingham entrepreneur and real estate agent, he was the grandfather of Dorothy Mary Leta Slaton, stage name Dorothy Lamour. His son John Wilson Slaton was her father.

There is no stone at the plot given in paper records at the office. Acc to those records, members of his extended family, McGLATHERYs, were disinterred and removed to Elmwood Cemetery (see the McGLATHERYs there). One sister Anna V and one brother Jos H each mar a McGLATHERY.
Samuel's father James A is probably the man who made a claim from the DAWES Indian Rolls, which suggests that Mary Ann WATSON, his wife, may have been all or part Creek Indian, which might explain Ms Lamour's smoldering dark beauty.
