He is reported to have been the first US service member from Johnson County, Arkansas killed in WW II. Died December 8, 1941, Wake Island, Hawaii.

He is buried at Honolulu Memorial, Plot G, Row O, Grave 68.

A stone was placed in Oakland Cemetry next to his father to honor his memory.
