Professional Football Player. He played at the flanker, halfback and defensive back positions for nine seasons (1957 to 1965) in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions. He was a member of the 1957 NFL Champion Lions' Team. His other notable career highlights include two-time All-Pro status (1958, 1963), and two-time Pro Bowl selection (1963 to 1964). He tied Gary Collins of the Cleveland Browns for league leader in receiving touchdowns with 13 in 1963. After attending Grand Rapids Central High School, he played collegiate football at the University of Michigan. He was chosen by the Lions during the 3rd round of the 1957 NFL Draft and appeared in 102 career regular season games with 227 receptions for 3,810 yards with 35 touchdowns. Following his football career, he became a successful businessman. He was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. He died from complications of Alzheimer's disease. (bio by: C.S.)
