Gladys Goodson was a 29 year old victim of the Winecoff Hotel fire in Atlanta, Georgia on December 7, 1946. She was traveling with her husband Joe and their two children Joe and Barbara to Florida. Her husband Joseph was recovering from a bout of pneumonia. They lived in Clay City, Illinois at the time of the fire. She was a native of Chadron, Nebraska. She met her husband when he was a Gulf oil scout in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They occupied suite 1202-1204. They did have reservations at another hotel in Atlanta but the room was given to somebody else so they elected to stay at the Winecoff Hotel. Lexington, Kentucky records indicate that she had lived in Lexington at one time with her husband before moving to Illinois.
