William was the son of Thomas Black and Elizabeth Forbes. Thomas is buried here. William married Isabella Goldie Middlemiss, daughter of Joseph and Isabella Burness Middlemiss. They married on 26 December 1889. William and Isabella had three children: Bella Lucy Wilhemina, Myrtle Catherine and Muriel Florence. Bella and Myrtle, and their husbands, are buried here.
William was the grandson of William and Jean Purves Black, early settlers in the Huntingdon area.
From "The Gleaner": Gleaner Extracts 1937...(Not dated) William Black, died at his home on Wellington Street. Age 75 years. He is survived by his widow, Isabella Middlemiss, and three daughters, Mrs. J. R. McLeod of Québec, Mrs. Raymond Rowat, and Mrs. J. Clarence Cluff of Montreal. The funeral service held from St. Andrew's Church, conducted by the Rev. J. B. MacLean.
