Negro League Baseball Player. From 1938 through 1951, he played for the Negro League St. Louis Stars, Baltimore Elite Giants, the Philadelphia Stars and for the Louisville Buckeyes for a brief time. In January 1942, he joined the United States Air Force where he trained to be a pilot at the Tuskegee Army Airfield in Alabama. During his service he attained the rank of Sergeant and received numerous medals; the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
