Mary Elizabeth Hamblin Beeler was born September 23, 1872, in Kanab, Kane County, Utah to Jacob Vernon Hamblin and Priscilla Leavitt. My mother was told by an elderly Mormon lady in Lakeside, Arizona, that Mary Elizabeth was one of the children of the Mountain Meadow Massacre, but by checking the dates, that does not seem correct. Hamblin and his family moved to Arizona where he lived in various places. They also settled and lived in Pleasanton, New Mexico. Hamblin died there and was buried, but his body was exhumned and moved to Alpine, Arizona. Mary Elizabeth and other Hamblin family members are buried by him. Mary Elizabeth met and courted Ed Beeler. They were married on September, 27, 1896 in Nutrioso, Arizona. Her father, Jacob Hamblin, performed the ceromony. Ed Beeler was elected Sheriff of Apache County, Arizona,in 1899 and served one term. He was amushed and murdered by unknown assailants in 1901. He is buried in St. Johns, Arizona. They had no children. Mary moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she worked in the LDS Temple for many years. She never remarried.
