FRED POTTER of Paradise, Butte, CA. No service is planned for Fred Ward Potter, 58, of Paradise, who died in the crash of a private airplane Saturday evening near the Lime Saddle area of Lake Oroville. He was a flight instructor for 38 years. He was a member of the Airline Pilots Association and Experimental Aircraft Association. Potter was born Jan. 30, 1927 in Glendale and moved to the ridge last January from Eureka. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Corinne of Paradise; five sons, Stephen of Baldwin Park, Chuck of Tracy, James Buchert, Charles Buchert and Jess Buchert, all of Santa Maria (Santa Barbara Co.); four daughters, Charla Broadstone of Santa Maria, Terri Buchta of Anchorage, Alaska, Linda Wilkinson of Boise, ID (Ada Co.), and Kimberly Pauselinus of Hayward; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His ashes will be scattered in the air. Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Pines mortuary.
