Luis Angel Alers-Alers, 72, passed away on the morning of Sunday, June 7, at his residence. A native of Isabela, Puerto Rico, Luis and family moved to Orange Park in 1994. He served his country in active duty in the United States Air Force and served many years of civilian service in the Department of Defense and the United States Navy. An active member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, he served as a bilingual lector, a leader in the Family Rosary ministry, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a participant in the Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) program, and assisted with the diocesan Spanish Pre Cana. He is survived by his children Anna, Marc and Michael; his wife, Martha, and their three children, Andres, Nicolas and Catalina; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council 7399, in his honor. Rosary Novena every evening at 7:30 PM from June 8 through June 15. Visitation Wednesday, June 10, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park from 5 PM to 7 PM. Funeral Rosary and Mass, Thursday, June 11, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park. Rosary in Chapel at 9:30 AM; funeral mass at 11 AM in sanctuary. Burial, Friday, June 12, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville at 10:15 AM.
