PVT US ARMY VIETNAM

Robert Arnold Albertie, affectionately known as "Bertie" was born in Jacksonville, Florida, June 14, 1942 and died Wednesday, November 5, 2008. He was the first son born to the late Oscar Albertie, Jr., and the late Mrs. Mattie Brown Albertie Perry. He was baptized at the age of six years in the Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he held membership for several years.

Educated in the Duval County School System, he graduated from Northwestern Junior Senior High in the class of 1961. He was best known for his deep sense of reasoning, friendly demeanor and his amazing ability to comprehend and remember the smallest of details. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He worked as a Merchant Seaman and for the U. S. Postal Service.

In addition to his parents, Robert's sister, Brenda Albertie Priestly, and his brother, William Sherman Adams, predeceased him. He leaves to cherish his memory those who affectionately called him "Dad" and "Granddaddy", Allison Rock and her children, Jordon, Jeremy, and Jasmin of Atlanta, Georgia; survivors also include his sister, Ann Albertie (Rodney) Hurst, Sr., niece, Brenda A. Priestly- (DeAndre) Jackson; nephews, D'Wayne L. (Cynthia) Priestly of Dallas, Texas, Wm. Delando Williams, Rodney L. Hurst II, Cassius G. Priestly of Bouie, Maryland, and Todd M. Hurst; first cousin, Lucious W. (Sharrie) Albertie; grand nieces and nephews, Imani, Marquiette, Lauren, Jasmine, Kya, Malik, D'Wayne, Jr., and Kalif; foster sisters, Patricia Brown Miller, Joan S. Whitlock, Cheryl A. Coffey; devoted friend Lynn Jackson; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating "Bertie's" life was held Monday, November 10th at the Mortuary Chapel of J. E. Fralin and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Dr. with the Reverend F. D. Richardson, Jr. officiating.
