John Richard Anderson, "Coach," 60, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Wednesday (October 29, 2008).
He was born on July 12, 1948 in Hartford. He graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1966 from Upsala College in 1970 and the University of Connecticut Law School in 1974. He attended officer training for the U.S. Army Reserve in 1970-71 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1976 as Private 1st Class. John started his legal career at the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and later joined the law firm of Bailey and Weschler. He represented a variety of interests as a lobbyist at the Connecticut legislature. For the past eight years he worked for Dial America Marketing Company in Jacksonville, FL. John was a member of the Arlington American Legion Post 283 and served as their Service Officer for the last two years. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Team at Christ the King Catholic Church.
John is survived by his wife of four years, Patricia Ann (Guinan) Anderson; two adult children, Gary Albert Anderson of Wilbraham, MA and Julie Christine Anderson of Denver, CO; two sisters, Nancy Beth Myers of Marlborough, MA and Jean Louise Scott of Denver, CO; and friends who were close like family, Kenneth and Michelle Zawacki. Coach also leaves a host of friends and acquaintances.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, November 3 at the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesery Boulevard, Jacksonville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL. A reception will immediately follow at the Arlington American Legion Post 283.
The Interment will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery upon its completion.
