BRADBURY Forrest O. Bradbury, 91, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2007. Born on April 27, 1916, in Mott, North Dakota, Forrest and his family moved to Lake City, Florida, when he was just four years old. He has lived in Florida ever since, moving to St. Augustine in 1955. Mr. Bradbury began his career in the banking field as Teller with Commercial Bank of Live Oak, Florida, in 1935, and continued with the firm until 1955, being promoted to Cashier with this firm in 1950. He moved to St. Augustine, Florida, in 1955, when he accepted the position as Vice President of the Exchange Bank of St. Augustine. He was elected to the position of President of Hastings Exchange Bank in Hastings, Florida, in 1959. Mr. Bradbury served as a member of the Board of Directors of these two banks. He had been heavily involved with youth work in his community and devoted much of his time to community service. Mr. Bradbury has served as District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America in St. Johns County; held the office of President of Hastings Rotary Club in 1963 and served as Vice President of the Kiwanis Club of St. Augustine in 1959. He was active in the work of the Parent-Teacher Association, serving as President of the group at St. Augustine High School in 1958; and held the office of President of the St. John's Heart Association, 1958-59. He was also the Past President of the Independent Luncheon Club, originator and Past President of Wheelers and Dealers Investor's Club, Charter member and Director of the Rod & Gun Club, and member of the St. Augustine Ballroom Dancers Association. The same energy and desire for service which is shown in his civic activities was also devoted to the work of the First Methodist Church, in which Mr. Bradbury had served as a member of the Board of Stewards for 27 years and as Chairman of the Official Board of the Church from 1961 to 1962. He is pre-deceased in death by his parents, Charles A. and Esther (Shaw) Bradbury, his wife of 55 years, Grace Perry Bradbury, his son, Forrest O. Bradbury, Jr., and a brother, Chester Bradbury. He is survived by his daughter, Anne B. Wolfe (husband O. Douglas Wolfe), grandson Trae Wolfe (wife Shana Wolfe), granddaughter Beverly Wolfe, great grandsons Dillon Wolfe and Austin Quinn, and his companion of 11 years, Melba Amos. A memorial service will be held at Craig Funeral Home on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 11:30am, with visitation at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest making a donation to Hospice of Northeast Florida.
