Anchorage resident CYNTHIA ROBIN BARNES , 47, was the victim of a homicide Oct. 7, 2002, at home. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel downtown, with the Rev. Matthew M. Friese officiating. Burial will follow at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Barnes was born Aug. 13, 1955, in Lodi, Calif., and moved to Alaska in 1968. She graduated from a beauty school in Anchorage before receiving her diploma from West High School. She enjoyed arts and crafts and floral arranging. Ms. Barnes ' family wrote: ''She was a caring mother and would rather do for others -- especially for us than for herself. She would give the shirt off her back to someone who needed it. Even though we had some rough times, we will always remember the good times we had together.'' She was preceded in death by her stepfather, James C. Applewhite; uncles, Bill Hunt and Leo Pickard; grandparents, Bob and Alta Hunt; and grandmother, Faye Noble.

Ms. Barnes is survived by her sons, Steven Page of Coos Bay, Ore., and Christopher Page of Anchorage; daughter, Kimberly Hawkins of Eagle River; mother, Thelma Applewhite of Anchorage; father, Milton Houston of California; daughter-in-law, Kristy Page of Coos Bay; granddaughter, Kayli Page of Coos Bay; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and David Petersen of Carson City, Nev.; nephews, David Petersen Jr., Wayne Petersen and Kevin Petersen of Carson City; nieces, Carol Petersen, Charyl Petersen and Katie Petersen of Carson City; aunt, Ellen Pickard of Diamond Springs, Calif.; uncle and aunt, Dwain and Shirley Hunt of Stockton, Calif.; cousins, Dennis and Linda Pickard of Diamond Springs, David Pickard of Anchorage, Bruce and Lori Pickard of Utah, and Christina and Joe Colli of Gilroy, Calif. The family requests that memorial donations be sent to Victims for Justice, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, Anchorage 99503. Arrangements were made with Evergreen Memorial Chapel downtown.
