Rites Monday

The body of Private First Class Joseph Arcangelini, 23 years old, son of Michael and Rose Arcangelini of Hose No. 88, Bitner, who was killed in action in France January 8, 1945, was shipped into Connellsville this afternoon and was taken by Funeral Director Milton V. Munk to the parental home. The funeral will be held Monday morning with the cortege meeting at the home at 8:15 o'clock and requiem high mass at St. Rita's R. C. Church, West Side, at 9 o'clock in charge of Rev. Father Henry DeVivo, pastor. Burial will be made in St. Rita Cemetery with Emory Lewis Pratt Post No. 586 of the American Legion of Vanderbilt in charge of military rites. He was born in Italy January 4, 1922, and came to this country at the age of seven. He was graduated from Dunbar Township High School in 1941. Before going into the armed forces, he worked at the Uniontown store of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. He went into the Army November 28, 1942, and went overseas in March, 1944, and received the Purple Heart Medal. In November, he returned to the front lines where he was killed in combat on January 8, 1945. Surviving are his parents and four sisters, Mary, Lucy, Grace and Elizabeth, and two brothers, John and Frank, all at home. He was a member of St. Rita's Church.
