Cara, 74, was a native of North Dakota. She was a Hanford resident for the past four years. Cara was married to Alfred "Al" Boyer, a Methodist minister for many years. In 1980, she was voted Sherman County, Oregon's "Mother of the Year." Surviving her was her husband, two sons and one daughter.
Cara was an accomplished pianist. Despite the fact that she had a stroke, and at one time they had predicted that she would never play again, she was persuaded to try to play here and so she did play the organ and piano. She served as the organist for the Hanford United Methodist Church. It was a special treat when Al would serve as a guest minister. He would tell a story and Cara would play music in the background. They made a wonderful team.
Cara was a very good artist. She would take burls out of trees, dry them and paint beautiful scenes on them.
She succumbed to complications of diabetes after she had eye surgery. After her death, Al moved back to the northwest.
