Joseph (Joe) Robert Beischel passed away in his home in Fountain Hills on Christmas Day. Joe was born October 9, 1925 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to Urban and Dorothy (nee, Leedle) Beischel, firstborn of 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Joe spent his childhood through high school in Fort Atkinson. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Navy, October 1943 through 1946, earning the rank of radio technician 2nd class, serving honorably in the Pacific Theater.

It was during has naval basic training he met Mary Louise Messina and married his life's greatest companion, on September 15, 1951.Joe finished his education in 1969 with a Masters Degree in industrial engineering from Arizona State University.

Being honorable discharged from the Navy in May 1946; he attended the University of Wisconsin, graduated with Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. After employment at RCA and Zenith on the east coast Joe and Mary Lou located to Illinois, spending the next 8 years at Cook Research, during which time his daughters Linda and Janet were born. Joe was proud to serve his country, a true patriot.

1962 brought Joe and his family out west to Scottsdale, Arizona, working for Motorola until his retirement in 1989, settling in Fountain Hills (1986).

Retirement enabled Joe and Mary Lou to pursue and explore some of their passions: traveling to Mexico, Alaska and Europe, researching his German heritage. Joe was an avid ASU football fan, volunteered at the Fountains Assisted Living, and many dedicated hours were spent with the Powers Brothers Stained Glass.

He is preceded in death by his lovely and gracious wife Mary Lou, adored and held in the highest esteem by Joe, and his sister, Barbara.

He is survived by his brothers, Dick and Dean; sisters, Karen, Gayle and Shirley; daughters, Linda Glover (grandchildren, Clayton and Andrea), Janet Smith (grandchildren, Russell and Kristopher). He will be forever missed by all as an honest and gentle man, devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

Services: Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 am at The Fountains United Methodist Church, Fountain Hills.
