He was a graduate of District 86 schools in Joliet, Illinois and Joliet Township West Class of 1972.
He confessed his life in Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois.
After moving to Chicago, he joined St. Pauls United Church of Christ and served faithfully in the choir.
Rocky held various positions in the food industry for the past 20 years. He has been a captain at the University Club and was most recently employed at the restaurant Trattoria No. 10.
Rocky leaves to mourn his special friend, James Lawyer; his mother, Juliet King Merchant; his stepfather, R.B. Merchant; eight brothers, Charles (Lena) Jeffery, Nelson, Fredrick (Emma), Roger (Lucille), Gary, Kevin and David; a sister, Eola Marie; special sister-in-law, Fannie King; an uncle, Richard (Robertine) Cole; two aunts, Anna Roby, Jacquline (James) Banks; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Rocky was preceded in death by his father, Charles King, Sr. in 1988.
Visitation: St. Pauls United Church of Christ, 2335 N. Orchard, Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Burial: Elmhurst Cemetery.
