Peter Althouse Keeler Biography:

Source: "Gods' People In All Times- The History Of The Protestant Religion".

Peter A. Keeler was born in Saratoga county, N.Y. April 25, 1819 and settled in the state of Michigan in 1844. His first church connection was with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Prairieville, Michigan and he subsequently held membership at Grass Lake, Michigan and in the Congregational Church at St. Johns in the same state. In 1876, he made his home in Detroit and there united with the Woodward Avenue Congregational Church, under the preaching of Dr. Sproal. He was a deacon in the church at St. Johns and also Superintendent of the Sabbath School. Mr. Keeler's parents wre Isaac N. Keeler, a native of New York State, born in 1792, died in 1830 at age 38 years and Clarissa (Althouse) a lifelong Baptist, who died June 3 1867 aged 69 years. His wife, Selina (Osborne) Keeler, was born in what is now Mayfield, Fulton County, New York and united in that place with the M.E. Church at the age of 15 years. She was a member there until 1846 when she united by letter with the M.E. Church at Prairieville, Michigan since which time her church membership has been with her husband. Her parents, Isaac and Millie (Morse) Osborne, were natives of the state of New York and were lifelong members of the M.E. Church. The father died in 1874 at aged 81 years and the mother in 1872, aged 79. Mr, Keeler has two children, Mary E. , now Mrs. George F. Robison, a member of Woodward Avenue Congregational church and Hiram Morse, whose church preferences are also congregational."
