She was born January 11, 1916 in Tecumseh, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Clare Bail Surratt, and in 1917 moved with her parents to a homestead north of Henry, Nebraska. In 1923 the family moved to Morrill where she received her early education. She married Harold Broadbent on November 25, 1937 in Harrisburg, Nebraska and they have lived in the Morrill area since that time.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morrill.
Surviving are her husband, Harold, a son Roger of Gering; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Carolyn) Austin of Morrill; brother Kenneth Surratt of Morrill; Elmer Surratt of Irving, Texas, and Clyde Surratt of Torrington. Sisters, Mrs. Ralph Schmidt of Mitchell and Mrs. Robert Curtis of Salt Lake City, Utah, and 8 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Kathleen, a sister, Leora Rowlee and brothers Wesley Surratt and Carroll Surratt.
Services were held Monday at 10 am in the United Methodist Church of Morrill with Rev. Calvin Leeds officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Jones Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
