Heart Attack Proves Fatal To Dr. Heath – Retired Physician Had Headed Parish, City Health Boards
Dr. A. G. Heath, veteran Shreveport physician and former head of the city and parish boards of health died of a heart attack at his home here last night.
The elderly doctor suffered the attack in the bathroom at his residence at 1617 Highland Ave. about 9:30 p.m. He was rushed to the North Louisiana Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Dr. Charles S. Boone, chief deputy parish coroner, ordered the body removed to Wellman's Funeral Home where funeral arrangements were incomplete last night.
Dr. Heath, who was born in Minden, had practiced medicine here for 47 years when he retired in December, 1957. He had for 10 years previously been connected with the Veterans Administration Hospital, making general medicine, surgical and orthopedic examinations.
He served as a medical corps officer in World War I, and following his discharge he was named health officer for the city of Shreveport.
He was a member of the American Medical Assn., Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, member of the First Baptist Church and former chairman of the Fourth District Rehabilitation Committee. He was a past commander of Cedar Grove Post No. 6 of the Legion.
Dr. Heath graduated from the University of Nashville and began practice in Shreveport in 1910.

Dr. A. G. Heath Funeral Rites Will Be Today
Funeral services for Dr. A. G. Heath, 71, of 1617 Highland Ave., who died Thursday of a heart attack, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wellman Chapel with Dean R. Smith, teacher of the Four Square Bible Class, officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery at Homer.
Surviving are his widow and a sister, Mrs. Omah Hill, Little Rock, Ark.
Active pallbearers are Drs. Arthur Herold Sr., P. C. Worley, Henry Goldsby, Peachie Gilmer, Herbert D. Tucker and members of the Shreveport Medical Society.
Dr. Heath, who retired in 1957, had practiced medicine here for 47 years. He was head of the parish and city boards of health. For 10 years he was connected with the Veterans Administration.
