Graveside services for J. L. Simpson, 75, of 6020 Line Ave., will be held at 10 a.m. today in Forest Park Cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Durham, a Protestant chaplain at the Veterans Administration Hospital, officiating.
Mr. Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene of an automobile accident on Norris-Ferry Road about noon Monday by Caddo Coroner Dr. Stuart DeLee. The car went into a ditch about 42 feet and struck a utility pole after leaving the road on a sharp turn. It was a one-car accident.
A native of Arizona, La., Mr. Simpson had lived here 40 years. He was a retired employee of Arkansas Louisiana Gas Co. and a veteran of World War I. A life member of American Legion Cedar Grove Post No. 6, he was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge, 40 & 8 and F&AM.
Survivors include his widow, and three brothers, Stacy Simpson of Shreveport, Harold Simpson of Houston, Tex., and Lamar Simpson of California.
