Arthur C. Friar, Jr., 54, of 220 W. 71st St. died at 3 p.m. Sunday in Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
The Henderson, Texas, native was a resident of Shreveport most of his life and was a truck driver for the Shreveport Parks and Recreation Department. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, a 30-year member of the American Legion, and a 25-year member of the 40 & 8 Club. He was commander of the Cedar Grove Post No. 6 of the American Legion for four years and was a veteran of World War II.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel with Dr. Billy Smith, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Friar; three sons, Jerry Friar of New Iberia, David Friar of Shreveport and Steven Friar of Bossier City; one daughter, Missy Friar of Shreveport; one brother, Gordon R. Friar of Garland, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Clinton, Jack Leach, Alfred Petrus, Don Wood, W. F. Pennington, John R. Davis Jr. and Edgar C. Smith.
