Funeral services for Miss Judy Kay White, 16,were held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, March 9, 1960, at the Barnard Funeral Parlor. Fr. L. Friedman officiating. Interment was in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, IA.
Miss Judy Kay White, was born in Hawarden, Iowa on June 9, 1943, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Elmer "Bud" White. Judy had been sick at home for three days with the flu,but had planned to return to school the next day which was Friday, when she became extremely ill on Thursday night and was taken to the hospital. Judy was hospitalized for 2 weeks after becoming seriously ill while recuperating from the flu at home. She died March 6,1960, Sunday morning, at the Hawarden hospital, from viral pneumonia.
Judy was a sophomore at West Sioux Community High School. Classmates: Rocky Younie, Bob Rounds, Richard Renken, Larry Schumacher, Larry Pearson and Jim Gaul were her pall bearers.
Judy is survived by her parents, Elmer and Mary White: Four sisters: Marjorie, Mrs Edger Heiles of Lincoln, NE; Delores, Mrs. Donald Boudry of Vermillion,SD; Kathleen and Charlene, at home; Two brothers: Timothy and James, both at home. The maternal grandfather, W. L. Hill of Hawarden.
Those from out of town attended the funeral and dinner served by St. Mary's Guild included Mrs Edgar Heiles, Mr and Mrs Baudry, Mrs Davis Kaski, who flew here from Georgia, Mr and Mrs Barney Koopsma of Hudson, Mr and Mrs Robert White and Diane of Sioux City, Mr and Mrs Robert Lanning of ELk Point, Mr and Mrs David Blomberg and Mrs Wayne Von Hagel and daughter of Akron.
