Freeman R. "Pete" Tillman
Freeman R. "Pete" Tillman, 74, Springfield, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2001. He died peacefully in his home.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie, of the home; three children, Penny Bruce and husband Jim, Kenny Tillman and wife, Cindy, and Patty Darrell and husband, Steve, all of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Jason and Barry Bruce, Amy, Jill, and Stacy Tillman and Jeremy and Ginger Dorrell, all of Springfield. He is also survived by a brother, Wilbur Tillman and wife, Jeri of Galena.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle Tillman, and a brother, Clovis Tillman.
Freeman was a faithful member of South Haven Baptist Church where he served faithfully and joyfully as an usher for 40 years.
Freeman was a veteran of World War II. His occupation prior to retirement was floor covering, but his true love was woodworking- building furniture and other heirlooms for those he loved.
Words cannot express how much Freeman will be missed by family and friends, but we take comfort in the knowledge that he is with his Lord in heaven, perhaps doing his woodworking and ushering those in at Heaven's gate with a smile and a bulletin.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2001, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with Paula Swadley officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
