Steven Oswald Liptrot
OGDEN – Steven O. Liptrot, 50, died Saturday, August 28, 2004 at his home following a courageous battle from a brain tumor.
He was born September 25, 1953 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Oswald Robinson Liptrot and Aurdell Lundgreen. He attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1971. He also graduated from Weber State University. On June 18, 1994 he married carol Anderson Dillard, along with her five daughters. On January 4, 1996, they were blessed with the greatest joy of his life, a long awaited son, Taylor and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served his country in the Navy, Coast Guard and was currently serving in the Air National Guard. He served off the coast of Viet Nam and two tours in Saudi Arabia.
Steve was an active member of the Mount Lewis 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Steve had served an honorable mission to Oakland, California, served in several Ward Bishoprics, had been a member of the High Council, High Priest Group Leader and many other positions.
Steve had worked for Anderson Lumber, Home Depot, Leavitt Electric and State Office Supply. He was currently employed as an Engineer for Intermountain Health Care serving the northern Utah Clinics where he had many treasured friendships.
Known to all as "Uncle Steve" he enjoyed coaching soccer, attending WSU and BYU football games, dutch oven cooking, snow skiing, golf, hunting and spending time with his family and his neighbor Warren. He loved doing anything Taylor wanted to do with him, especially fishing, 4-wheeling and hiking, and being followed by his dog Barkley.
He is survived by his wife Carol, his son Taylor and five daughters, Janeice (Bryan) Skeen, Ogden; Jodi (Jack) Olsen, Sandy; Jessica (Jake) DeBoer, Jill Dillard, Jackie Dillard, all of Ogden; his mother Aurdell, Ogden; one brother, Gary (Marilyn) Liptrot, Ogden; 6 grandchildren and nieces, nephews and many loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The family would like to thank IHC Hospice for the tender care that they gave to Steve and his family in the last days.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Lewis 2nd Ward, 425 North Jackson, Ogden with President Richard Hyers officiating. Friends may call Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Tuesday, August 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mount Lewis 2nd Ward. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery with full military honors.
