A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, in Willamette National Cemetery for Carlton "Sonny" Hartman, who died Jan. 14 at age 64.
Mr. Hartman was born July 14, 1934, in Brainerd, Minn. He lived most of his life in the Portland and Vancouver, Wash., areas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked as a journeyman auto mechanic and a square dance caller and was a member of Cedar Mills Bible Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Shally of Warren, Colette of Pennsylvania, Frances Dixon of Baker City, Jacqueline Henderson of Haines, Dawn M. Gall of Vancouver and Dara Stanton of Albany; sons, Carlton of Pendleton, Nathan of Albany and Thomas Johnston of Rye Valley; sisters, Claudette Allen of Vancouver and "Billy" Barnard of Sweet Home; 27 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Disposition was by cremation. Arrangements are by Aftercare Cremation & Burial Service.

Former Vancouver resident Carlton "Sonny" Hartman died of heart failure Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at OHSU Hospital in Portland. He was 64.
An expert marksman, Mr. Hartman served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and earned several medals, including the Navy Cross and a Purple Heart.
He was born July 14, 1934, in Brainerd, Minn., and lived in Vancouver before moving to Portland and then Sweet Home several years ago. He worked as a journeyman mechanic and enjoyed drawing, painting, making things and his computer.
He was a member of Cedar Mill Bible Church in Cedar Mill, Ore.
Survivors include six daughters, Shally Hartman of Warren, Ore., Colette Hartman of Sceranpon, Penn., Frances Dixson of Baker City, Ore., Jacqueline Henderson of Haines, Ore., Dawn Gall of Vancouver, and Dara Stanton of Albany, Ore.; three sons, Carlton Hartman of Pendleton, Ore., Nathan Hartman of Albany, Ore. and Thomas Johnston of Rye Valley, Ore.; two sisters, Claudette Allen of Vancouver and Billy Barnard of Sweet Home; 27 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Aftercare Cremation and Burial Service of Portland is in charge of arrangements.
