Memorial Service for Lucas R. Odell and Odell Family Reunion in Ohio

Graveside services were held for the late Lucas (Luke) Robert Odell of
Urbana, Ohio. Lucas died at the home of Ray Odell and was buried in Southard town Cemetery, West Mansfield, Ohio, on Christmas Eve of 1927. The Veteran's Administration placed a stone on the unmarked grave in respect and recognition of his service in the Union Army during the United States Civil War.
Lucas was born on June 22, 1847, in Union County Ohio, to Oliver Perry Sr. and Mary Ann Low Odell. He moved with his family to Keithsburg, Illinois where he met and married Rebecca R. Redifer. They settled in Scotland County, Missouri and raised 9 children. Lucas was widowed in 1909 and returned to Ohio and married Mary Cornelia Benedict Odell in 1912. Mary was the widow of his brother Oliver Perry Odell Jr.

A Civil War reenactment graveside service of remembrance was held on April 12, 2008, at 1 PM in Southard town Cemetery of West Mansfield, Ohio. The Sons of the Union Veterans of Columbus, Ohio conducted the service.

The great grandchildren of Lucas would like to invite the members of the Odell, Redifer, Lowe/Low, Southard, Benedict, and Gordy families to join them at the cemetery or after the service in West Mansfield, Ohio, at the Conservation Club. Please join us and share in this special event in memory of our relative.
