Porter Bryan Caldwell Jr. passed on from this earth on Sunday, June 5, 2011. He was 87.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Edith H. Caldwell; daughter, Sandra C. Bowie and her husband, Richard 'Tuck' Bowie; son, Porter B. Caldwell III and his wife, Yvonne B. Caldwell; grandchildren, Bryan and Katie Bowie, and sister-in-law, Betty S. Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Bryan Caldwell and Josephine Stellwagon Caldwell, and his brother, Richard M. Caldwell.
Porter was raised in Riverton and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1941.
During World War II he served honorably as a Signalman First Class on the LST-46, participating in three campaigns, including the invasion of Normandy D-Day.
Following the war, Porter attended Philadelphia College of Art in 1949. As an art director, he worked for RCA (NJ), Warsaw Studios (NYC) and H. G. Peters and Co. (IN). Porter started his own advertising company, PB Caldwell Jr., in Swiftwater, Pa.
In his later years, his primary focus was watercolor, combining his love of nature and landscape painting with travel. Throughout his life he enjoyed a variety of sports, good conversation, dancing and his cats.
All who wish to celebrate his life are welcome to attend the service and interment on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Calvary Presbyterian Church and Memorial Garden, Riverton.
