Jacqueline Germain Dages died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at home. She was 87.
Known as "Jacqui" to her family and friends, she led a long and useful life.
Born in Normandy, France, she first served as a social worker for a few years in Marseiles before meeting her future husband, Edward Dages, a U.S. Army officer.
Years later, she started a French language instruction program at Westfield Friends School in Cinnaminson, where she taught for nearly 20 years.
Her volunteer activities included helping the local Red Cross Chapter's Blood Bank. As a member of Christ Episcopal Church, she also participated in the outreach breakfast program in Camden. To those who knew her best, she will be remembered for her love of learning, reading and knitting. She was also known for her witty sense of humor and a yummy chocolate mouse.
Jacqueline is survived by her son, Alan Dages of Wilmington, Del., his daughter, Marianne; and his wife, Bernadette. She also had cousins, nieces and nephews in France.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church, 4th and Main Streets, Riverton. Interment will be in the Church Memorial Garden.
The family requests that remembrances be made in her name to the Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, or to Westfield Friends School, 2201 Riverton Road, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077.
