CIVIL WAR VETERAN
James F. Wiley was born April 16th, 1847 in Missouri. He was the son of Isaac and Rachel (Bradley) Wiley. He stood six feet tall and had a light complexion.
Enlisted August 16, 1864 at Warrensburg, Missouri. Assigned to Company "E" of 45th Missouri Volunteer Infantry. Discharged March 6, 1865 at St. Louis, Missouri as a Private. Pension on Certificate No. 553407.
He married Mary on March 19, 1876 at Johnson Couty, Missouri. They had one son, Frank E. Wiley, who lived in Seattle.
He was a retired grocer and applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home with his wife Mary on July 23, 1919. He was then 78 years old and a resident of King County. He was admitted to the Home on April 2, 1920, one day before his wife died.
Mr. Wiley died on furlough from the Veterans' Home on April 30, 1931. He may not have died in Washington state as there was no death record filed for him in that state. He was buried in the Home Cemetery May 3, 1931, with his wife.
