George [Georg] is my 4th maternal Gr-Grandfather through his son Christopher Frondorf (b. 1814). He married Catherine [Catharina] Baatsch.
Children with Catharina:
1) Elizabeth [Elizabetha] Frondorf
2) Philip [Philipp] J Frondorf, m: Mary Eva Mehl.
3) Christopher [Christoffer] Frondorf, m: Lydia A Brown.
4) Frank Frondorf (1819-1908), m: Mary Elizabeth Koelling.
5) Henry [Heinrich] Frondorf, died young, while the family was still in NY, c1840.
Son Phillip, possibly with son Christopher, came first to America in 1837. The remainder of the family followed sometime before 1840, staying only a short while in New York. After the death of son Henry, George moved his family to OH, settling in Hamilton Co.
George was a shoemaker and also owned a farm, but some accounts state he never seemed content living in America. He died at age 73 years; the last two years of his life having been spent living with his son Frank.
The Frondorf Family Farm was located at 6835 Bridgetown Rd, Parcel ID# 55002820229 Vol.: 10, Green Twp Hamilton Co OH, 39.1523361206055 -84.6743011474609. There are no longer any graves, just houses.
"History of Hamilton County Ohio", 1881, Pg 307:
"George Frondorf was born in Germany, came from that country to Ohio, and made settlement in Green township in the year 1840. Here he died at the age of seventy-three.
"F. Frondorf came with his father, and has lived in this township since 1840. He is the owner of the largest single tract of land lying in the township two hundred and forty-three acres. In 1847 he was married to Mary Frondorf, who is still living. His daughter, Mary, and son, George, both reside here, and Caroline is at St. Mary's Convent, Cincinnati."
Note: Further research indicates the George Frondorf in Iowa is not the same as this George.
