Bowater is my 3rd paternal Gr-Grandfather through his daughter Hester "Hetty" Ann (Burris) Moore (1816-1889).
The last of nine children born to John C and Ester (Terry) Burris of VA and later of Liberty Twp, Highland Co OH, Bowater married:
1) Tabitha Sumner on 24 Jun 1809; she died abt 1834.
2) Bedy Fowler on 24 May 1835 in Morgan Co IN; no known children.
Children with Tabitha:
1) Hester Ann Burris (1816-1889), m1: John Mosier, m2: Joseph Lane, m3: George W Moore.
2) Rachel Burris (b: abt 1818), m: John S Briant.
3) Caleb Burris Sr (1822-1871), m: Nancy E Richardson.
1830 Census-Morgan Co IN, Pg 236:
Besides Tabitha and Bowater, there are 2 males and 5 females listed ranging in age from under 5 yrs to between 20 and 30 yrs of age. This indicates there were more children born to this couple beyond the three now known. Still researching.
