Mrs. Mattie Lee Criswell of Monroe died July 6, 1989. She was 63.

A retired sales clerk with Millner Aycock's Department Store, Mattie Lee Peters Criswell was born Feb. 18, 1926 and was a life-long resident of Walton County. She was the daughter of the late Horace J. Peters Sr. and Susie Cox Peters. She was the widow of Roy Criswell who died in 1982. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held July 8, 1989 in the Chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Forrester officiating. Interment was in Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Johnny Criswell, Steve Peters, Randy Peters, Glen Farmer, Bobby Chapman and Ricky Skelton.

She is survived by a daughter, Ms. Jane Criswell of Roswell; son, David Criswell of Athens; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Farmer and Mrs. Lois Prather of Monroe; brother, Horace J. Peters Jr. of Monroe, and nieces and nephews.

Arthur Bowick Inc. Funeral Directors were in charge of the arrangements.
