Monroe Morton Couch
Monroe Morton Couch, 54, of 721 Davis St., Monroe, died Jan. 4 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Jan. 6 at White Columns Memorial Chapel with Rev. Justus Garrett and Rev. Dan Hampton officiating. Interment was in Hill Haven Memory Gardens with White Columns Memorial Chapel, Monroe, conducting the services.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Mauldin, Junior Greeson, Felton Allen, Charles F. Couch, Ralph Queen and Buddy Hall.
Born in Jefferson, Jackson County, March 21, 1923, Mr. Couch was a son of Mrs. Alma Hayes Couch of Monroe and the late W. M. Couch. He had lived at his residence on Davis Street for the past 45 years and he was the owner and operator of the Phillips 66 service station for a number of years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 2, chapter 101, Royal Arch Mason, chapter 101, The American Legion Post 64, DAV and VFW. He was a CBer, known by the handle of Bee Keeper, formerly the 66 Man. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Elsie Mathis Couch, daughter, Mrs. Charlene Cherry, Good Hope; son, Gary Couch, Monroe; mother, Mrs. Alma H. Couch, Monroe; sisters, Mrs. Lewis O'Hearn, Jackson, and Mrs. J. P. Stuckey, Lincolnton, brother, H. L. Couch, Madison.
