WATERBURY — Michele Mike "Trooper" Guerrera, 93, of [street address removed],died Friday, March 16, 2007, at his residence.
Trooper was born in Waterbury on June 19, 1913, son of the late Saverio and Rosaria (Mucci) Guer­rera.
He worked for several years as a tailor for Minicucci's Taylor Shop on North Main Street before enlisting in the Army, where he served for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He received a Gold Star, Bronze Star, Silver Star and seven Purple Hearts.
He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, 11th Airborne Division Associa­tion, the Society of the First Divi­sion, Allied Airborne Association, 101st Airborne Division Associa­tion of New England Chapter and the 24th Infantry Division Associa­tion. He received a lifetime title of Honorary Gimlet for honorable service in the 21st Infantry Regi­ment. He was also a member of the 5th Special Forces, Special Forces Association and a life member of the Non Commissioned Officers Association, having retired from the army as a master sergeant.
He leaves three brothers, An­thony "Rip" Guerrera and Mario Guerrera, both of Waterbury, and Louis Guerrera of Milianitown, Hawaii; a brother-in-law, Alphonse Macharelli of Water­bury; and a nephew and caregiver, David R. Macharelli Sr. of Nau­gatuck. A brother, Joseph Guer­rera, and two sisters, Norma Cal­abro and Catherine "Kittie" Macharelli, are deceased.
Arrangements: A graveside service with full military honors will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Wa­terbury, with the Rev. Ronald Fer­raro officiating. There are no call­ing hours. Chase Parkway Memor­ial/ The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, has been entrusted with the arrange­ments.
