BARBARA ANN LAYE Barb passed away peacefully on November 2, 2010 of breast cancer. She fought with courage, determination, and a sense of humour. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Cameron Dubell; parents, Bob and Cathy Laye; twin sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Darren Harrower (Calgary); boyfriend Doug Johnson; faithful dog, Lightning; and many, many friends and relatives across Canada. Barb loved to travel and her most memorable trip was the one taken with her sister to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon in 2008. Something she always talked about - taking the famous mule ride on Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon - was the highlight of the trip. Barb's trips to Playa del Carmen, Mexico - one in 2009 with her sister and friends, and another in 2010 with her boyfriend, sister, brother-in-law and a friend - were also high on the memorable list. Throughout her 20 year career with Canada Border Services Agency, Barb held a number of interesting and challenging positions, including Customs Officer. At the time of her illness, she loved her work as a Regional Programs Services Officer, Planning and Program Integration Division. This position gave her the opportunity to travel across Canada allowing her to make many friends. Before her illness Barb enjoyed an active lifestyle - curling, gardening, dragon boat racing, biking, walking her dog, camping, hiking, going to the gym, yoga and socializing with her many friends. When her son was younger she spent many hours biking, rollerblading, camping, walking with him and their dogs, and watching his football games. He was her pride and joy. Barb was a kind and caring person, always willing to lend a hand. She was very fortunate to have loved and been loved by many people. She has been taken from us with all too many dreams to fulfill. The family would like to thank the many Doctors and health care professionals of CancerCare Manitoba, the St. Boniface Hospital, Respiratory Home Care, Palliative Care and Riverview Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit), for their truly compassionate care. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Cancer Society. Let's hope for a future without cancer. We love you Barb and will miss you ... until we meet again. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

May songs of the angels welcome you and guide you along your way. May the smiles of the martyrs greet your own as darkness turns into day. Every fear will be undone and death will be no more, as songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God.
