Morrison Clay Stayer served as a Major General in the United States Army. He is interred, along with his Wife, Edna Keller Stayer, in Section 2 of the Gettysburg National Cemetery. He is one of the highest-ranking officers ever to be buried in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

MORRISON CLAY STAYER was born in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, on July 12, 1882. B.A. from Lafayette College in 1903. M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in 1906. Commissioned in the Medical Corps in 1908. Graduated from Army Medical School in 1909. Served in the Philippine Islands 1910 - 1912. Chief health officer for American Occupation Forces in Coblenz, Germany 1919 - 1921. Professor at the Medical Field Service School 1922 - 1926. Graduated from the Army War College in 1927. Instructor at the Infantry School 1927 - 1932. Assistant Commandant of Carlisle Barracks 1932 - 1936. Post Surgeon at Fort Riley 1936 - 1939. Health officer, then chief health officer in the Panama Canal Zone 1939 - 1941. Chief surgeon for the Caribbean Command 1941 - 1944, then the North African Theater of Operations 1944 - 1945. Major General in November 1943. Chief Public Health and Welfare Officer for the military government of Germany from 1945.
