Howard R. Nutt served as a Private in the United States Army during World War II. He served with the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion.

He was a son of Taylor Tagert and Margaret A. Nutt.

He was killed in action during the Allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 12, 1943 at Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

He was originally from Star Junction, Pennsylvania.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on December 16, 1947.
