He was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Hamilton County, Ill., to Willliam J. and Mary (Garrison) Trotter. He married Betty A. Hodel on Nov. 25, 1945, in Metamora. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dale and Diane Trotter of Lacon and Larry and Stephanie Trotter of Youngsville, N.C.; one daughter, Joan and Robert Gunderson of Peoria; four grandsons, Dirk and Piper Trotter, and Daniel, Andrew and Josiah Trotter; five granddaughters, Kim and Rick Mills, Dawn, Corrie and Abby Trotter, and Diana Gunderson; one great-grandson, Cameron Mills; and one sister, Zana and George Wilkerson of Dahlgren, Ill.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Lawrence was co-owner of Trotter and Hodel Garage in Metamora from 1958 to 1985.
He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in Iwo Jima and the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of American Legion Post 89 in Metamora, past president of Metamora Business Men's Club, past president of the PTA, and a former Metamora Village Board member.
He also was a member of Metamora Christian Union Church, where he was past president of the church council.
