William, who resided in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, served as a Private First Class with the 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on October 6, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was noted as Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" in France while serving as a volunteer scout for a rocket-launcher team.
He had served in the Army for one year and nine months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Silver Star and Purple Heart.
At the families request, his state of birth was added to his headstone (Delaware) instead of his state of residence (Pennsylvania).
