Richard, served as a Captain on a P-51 Fighter, 376th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, Eighth Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was "Killed In Action" in England returning from his 46th combat mission.
He had served in the Air Corps for three years and one month at the time of his death and was decorated with the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Purple Heart.
