Dennis is a victim of murder. As of Sept. 2010 there have been no arrests. An article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer when this tragedy happened reads as follows:
A Cleveland man, 54 was found slain yesterday in a first-floor dining room of his house on Filo Ave., a block south of Fleet Ave.
Dennis Gruszewski, who lived alone, was found by a friend who had been trying to reach Gruszewski.
Lt. Ed Thiery said it appeared Gruszewski was struck in the head with a hachet-like camping tool. The tool, which was found near the body, will be examined for fingerprints.
The friend stopped at the house at 1:30 p.m. and was able to enter through an unlocked front door, police said. Detectives were trying to determine a motive for the slaying.
Gruszewski became the city's second homicide of the weekend and the 13th slaying of the year.
