Major League Baseball Player. A native of Vinita, Oklahoma, he was a first baseman and outfielder for ten seasons (1963 to 1965, 1967 to 1973) with the St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Colt .45s/Astros, Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets. He was a member of the 1973 National League Pennant-winning Mets and had four at bats during the World Series. After retiring as a player, he served as a coach for eight seasons (1991 to 1998) with the Braves. In addition to the Major Leagues, Beauchamp was a standout player in the Texas League. In 393 career regular season games, Beauchamp had 153 hits with a .231 lifetime batting average. He died from leukemia. (bio by: C.S.)
