Cecil Ray Fassio, 81, of Hartshorne, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10AM Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Buddy Drake officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Russell. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM at Spring Hill Cemetery, near Monroe, with the Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick, officiating.
He was the son of Frank and Sylvia Mae (White) FASSIO. He graduated from Wilburton High School.
He began his ministry in the 1950's and later became a Free Will Baptist ordained minister in 1966. He pastored various churches in Oklahoma, at Bell Gardens, Calif., and in 1972, returned to OK and became minister of the Wilburton Free Will Baptist Church. He married Rosa Lee King on Oct 7, 1978, in Oklahoma City. They later made their home in Stonewall, where he pastored the FWB church there from 1979 to 1983. He and his wife moved to Hartshorne and be began pastoring the Hartshorne FWB Church until 1994, and later the Pittsburg FWB until 2001, when his health prevented him.
Cecil liked to discuss and study the scriptures with minister brethren, and was knowledable and well prepared.
They owned and operated the Little Rascals Day Care for more then 23 years, where he was in charge of the maintenance of the building. He also would transport children to local schools, and took pride in getting new children acquainted to new surroundings and new friends.
He was also a self-employed crpenter and enjoyed watching OU football.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Fassio, of the home; sons Rodger (Debbie) Fassio, of Wilburton;
Eric of MaClester; a daughter, "G" and craig Philips, of Tulsa. Also, a step-son, Wesley Thornburg, of Venezuela; two step-daughters, Rosezenia (Maurice) Collins, of Hartshorne; Deena (John) Standfast, of Newalla; and mother of his children, Joan deYarmin.
A brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Betty Fassio of Choctaw; 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
