John E. Bean was born in Texas, and was located in Collin Coounty, TX on the 1920 census. His family moved into central OK, where he preached and evangelized. He was an ordained Free Will Baptist minister. His brother, Will L. Bean, was also a preacher.
In Oklahoma during the 1920's through 1950's Rev. Bean was very active, and known as an outstanding evangelist. He was chosen to preach in the 1932 and 1934 OK FWB State Associations. He authored the book, "What Would the World Be Without the Bible," a book that defends the Biblical record in various aspects of its historical statements. He is also author of a number of poems based on Bible subjects, and being a natural elocutionist, he often recited from memory upon request, to the enjoyment of his hearers. His age and health did not permit him to be as actively engaged as in his former years. He was well liked by all.
