Birth: Jan. 11, 1916
Death: Mar. 17, 2009

Evelene Marion Miller (93) of Waynesboro passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and great grandson, Colton Forgrave.
She was born January 11, 1916 in Waynesboro, VA, a beloved daughter of Houston Brisco (Sue) Marion and Gladys M. Ellinger.
Evelene attended Hiserman Elementary School and Fairfax Hall, formerly a finishing school for women. While the Marion family lived in Richmond, VA, she completed her high school education at Thomas Jefferson High School and also attended RPI Secretarial School.
She and her living sister, Ruby Marion Trogdon, worked in their father's furniture-antique store in Waynesboro. Advised by her sister, Evelene used her trained skills and went on to work for Crompton Shenandoah.
Evelene is not only known as the Matriarch of her family, but also of the local L.D.S. Church. She along with her sister, mother, and grandmother were introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by a missionary serving in the area. They became the first members of the L.D.S. Church in Waynesboro and held church services within their home until the Gene Larsen family moved to the area. Some years later, the first L. D. S. chapel was built on Park Road.
After marrying, she left for the West only to return in 1958 with her two teenage sons, Richards and Houston Miller. In an interview she stated "I needed a higher income salary than what I was making as a secretary" so she opened a Boarding House for Guests, The Pines.
She took great pride in her 2 sons, 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In her later years she loved having her family around her.
Surviving family members include her sister, Ruby Trogdon, 90, of Waynesboro, her two sons, Dr. Richards Miller and his wife, Giana (Hardesty) Miller of Waynesboro; Dr. Houston Miller and his wife, Loretta (Moyer) Miller of Waynesboro. Jordan, Utah; Dr. Rick Miller and his wife, Heather (Huntington) Miller of Waynesboro; Jamie (Miller) Pearce and her husband, Dane Pearce of Parker, Colorado; Kari (Miller) Davis and her husband, Dr. Kip Davis of Waynesboro; Brittney (Miller) Forgrave and her husband, Kevin of Lyndhurst, Virginia, Matthew Miller and his wife, Donna (Edwards) Miller of Waynesboro; Jason Miller and Megan Stewart of Waynesboro, Georgiana Miller Hickey and her husband, Bobby Hickey of Waynesboro.
