Killed with rest of 7-man crew when their Lancaster bomber PB428 collided on return to base with Lancaster LM648 after bombing mission to Harburg .
Crew killed: F/O W.A.Sparks, F/O A.F.Cullington, P/O W.G.Armour, F/O J.A.Baker, P/O A.L.Plowman, Sgt J.Nugent and F/S G.Rye.
