Alvah and Mary married September 11, 1833.
Reverend Alvah Buzzell, son of Reverend John Buzzell, was born in Parsonfield, Maine on April 11, 1807. He died at the home of his son, Charles F. Buzzell, at Southborough, MA on April 2, 1888, nine days before his 81st birthday. He was converted at the age of eighteen and ordained as pastor of the church at Barnstead, New Hampshire in June 1834 by Reverend Enoch.
He has had the care of twelve churches and helped organized six churches. He has baptized many hundreds. At the breaking out of the Civil War, when he was fifty-four, he followed his sons Frank and John to the front, caring for the sick and wounded, and preaching the gospel and helping the Negro to school privileges. He returned home with his sons after he contracted heart disease. He always said "Our country was saved and we help save it."
His first wife was Mary H Cilley, whom he married on September 11, 1853. During the last six years of his life he suffered from an injury occasioned by falling from a horse. After an illness of six days he died believing that his Saviour would receive him to a blessed immortality. He was buried at East Andover by the side of two wives, a son and six daughters. Three sons survived him. Of his father's ten children but two survive him, Dr. James Buzzell, of Portland, Maine and Mrs Clarinda Goodwin of Gorham, Maine.
