Edward married Frances "Frankey" Taylor Adams on 11 Dec 1801 in Fluvanna Co VA. She is the daughter of Captain Robert Jr and Mary (Terrell) Adams of VA. Edward and Frankey had eight children, seven sons and one daughter.

"Captain Edward and Frances (Adams) Howard were the parents of seven sons and one daughter. Thomas was the second son and second child. He was but eight years of age when his father died. He then lived on the old homestead with his mother until 1828 or '29, when he (sic: they) came to Daviess County, Ky."
