David Stewart Barber
David Stewart Barber, son of Miller and Mary Barber, was born at Granville Ohio, December 23, 1870, and peacefully departed this life at Bassett, Nebraska, August 11, 1950, at the age of 79 years, seven months and 18 days,
He came to Davenport, Nebraska, with his parents in 1889. On February 1, 1894, he was united in marriage to Lucy LaGrange, who passed away June 5, 1947. To this union three children were born. Two daughter preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Mrs. Fred Woodhead, with whom he had made his home during the last three years; also three sisters, Mrs. John Brown of Davenport, Mrs. P. T. Rose of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Wes Pogue of Gresham, and brother, Ed Barber of Casper, Wyoming, also five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, August 14, 1950, at the Urbauer Funeral Home in Davenport, with the Rev. McGill in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Chas. Rudd, Mrs. George Gell, Mrs. Will Herrick and Mrs. Oscar Danielson with Mrs. Ralph McCloughan at the piano.
Pallbearers were: Elmer Gowen, Will Herrick, Fred Zetterman, Ray Lobeda, Roy Mosley and Lynn Benson.
Burial was made in the Davenport Cemetery.
